How Do You Install A Baseboard On Carpet And Tile?
Baseboard, or floor molding, provides a finished look to any flooring project. It is installed along the bottom of the wall, hiding the edging of carpet or tile. Typically, a baseboard is 2 to 3 inches high, but can be as much as 8 to 10 inches high, particularly in older homes. You can install baseboard using a miter saw and a nail gun. Follow these steps. Use a steel tape measure to measure the perimeter of your room. Measure the width of each wall and add the figures together. This figure is the amount of molding that you will need in linear feet. Add 10 percent to this figure for cuts and mistakes. Purchase the amount of molding needed for your project. Stain or paint as needed. Begin at one corner of one of the longer walls and lay the longest piece of molding along the bottom of the wall. Be sure to place the molding just above the carpet or tile. Do not leave a large gap or push the molding down into the carpet. Make a discreet pencil mark to mark the height of the molding again
