How Do You Install A Baseboard Heater Thermostat?
Baseboard heater thermostats control the full voltage coming from the circuit breaker panel. Unlike furnace or air conditioning thermostats that operates on 24 volts, baseboard thermostats will switch the full voltage of 220 VAC. Only baseboard heater adjustable thermostats must be used for controlling the baseboard heater. Installing a thermostat for a baseboard heater takes only a few minutes to perform. The addition of the thermostat will not only bring comfort to the area but will reduce operational costs as well. Remove all electrical power from the baseboard heater. Shut off all supply circuit breakers or pull the fuses that protect the circuit. Switch off the main circuit breaker to the panel if you are unsure which breaker or fuse controls the heating unit. Use the screwdriver and pull both end covers from the baseboard heater. Look for the wires coming from the main panel that are feeding the electric coil.
