How Do You Inspect For Crooked Dice?
Nothing brings out human creativity more than greed. To that end, gamblers have pioneered dozens of different ways to cheat at dice games. Casinos, obviously, know these tricks back and forth: they often use devices like ‘micrometers’ to ensure the trustworthiness of their dice. But crooked dice can also be easily detected if you just know what you are looking for. Investigate the die’s shape. True die are cubes, but crooked dice come in all sorts of lightly-modified shapes and sizes. Run your fingers along the edges and sides, to look for alternations. Press the sides against a flat surface: if they rock back and forth, the side is convex. Scrutinize its composition even if the die looks true. Some dies have had their edges replaced with more elastic material: use your fingernail to test the resiliency of all sides. Analyze the die’s spots.
