If you have ever made a phone call to a business and it was answered with a short, cursory “Hold, please,” and then you start hearing elevator music, you realize the importance of proper phone etiquette. It is even more important when the economy is bad and every person who calls may be your next new customer. Cell phones are something that almost everyone uses, but few have been taught the proper etiquette. Answer the phone with a smile on your face. This will translate to the person calling and help you have a better attitude. Everyone is busy and no one likes interruptions. Assume that the caller has business that needs to be tended to and be as helpful as possible.
