How Do You Implement A School Dress Code?
Clothes are as important as breathing to most teenagers. Implementing a school dress code may result in hostility or defiance from older students. Younger students in primary or elementary schools normally have little to no problem adhering to the new rules. Dress codes reduce conflict and limit distractions in the classroom caused by inappropriate clothing. To implement a dress code successfully it must be done with diligence and perseverance. Decide what the problems are you need to fix. Some problems may include short skirts, saggy pants or inappropriate T-shirts. Make a list of the issues and ask other members of the faculty and staff for their input. Create or change the dress code. Write out all the rules, regulations and punishments for breaking the dress code. Ask the school board to vote on the new regulations. Inform the students of the changes to the dress code.
