Implementing a drug-free workplace has become an important issue for many companies. While the process may not be easy to establish and even more difficult to run successfully, the rewards are many. Not only are drug-free companies more productive and less problematic, but having a policy in place is a requirement to obtain government support for certain credits and backups. Create a policy that encompasses everybody and is simple to understand and follow. This can be as easy as printing and distributing an employee handbook or memo indicating zero tolerance to drugs in the workplace. If you will require drug tests from employees, specify that in the policy, too. Let employees know what will happen in the event that they test positive for drugs or are caught distributing and/or consuming drugs at the workplace.
