How Do You Identify DVD Copy Protection?
DVD copy protection refers to software that DVD companies put on their discs to prevent people from copying the movies or software on the disc. The reason for this is to prevent the copies of copyrighted material from being shared with other people online. DVD copy protection won’t always be obvious once you get a DVD, however. You’ll need to use copy protection identification software to determine what’s on the DVD. Visit a website that has a free program you can use to identify the protection on your DVD. An example would be the program Burnout (See Resources). Download the program by clicking on the download link. For example, click on “Save file” in Windows to begin download. Install the program on your computer by opening the installation file. It should be in your desktop or downloads folder. Click on the drop-down menu for your DVD drive when the program begins. Select a drive that has a DVD currently in it that you want to scan. Click “Scan” to search the DVD for copy protectio
