A video card, or graphics card, is a device that assists a computer with processing and displaying images. Powerful video cards are needed to play modern games with 3D graphics, making it one of the most commonly upgraded components in a computer. It is important to know what type of video card is installed in a computer to assess what games and applications it is capable of running. Click “Start,” then “Control Panel.” Click “Administrative Tools,” and then “Computer Management.” Click “Device Manager,” on the menu on the left-hand side of the window. Search the list of devices that populates for “Display Adapters,” and click the plus sign next to “Display Adapters.” This will expand a list of your installed display devices, which should list your video card by its manufacturer and model.
