Philips television sets, depending on model and age, are equipped with several types of audio/video jacks for connecting different components. Connecting the Philips to a home theater system requires a video and audio connection to deliver picture and sound. The simplest way to connect the TV, if it is a digital model, is with a High Definition Media Interface (HDMI) cable. The home theater receiver must also have a six-sided HDMI port. If HDMI is not available on both components, then color-coded component audio/video cables are a great second choice. Either set of cables can be connected in minutes.
