Hooking up a lighted rocker, or illuminated toggle, switch will save you countless stubbed toes while searching for a light switch. Sometimes just a little extra light in the room will make a difference between finding your way and staying lost. A lighted rocker switch helps you to find your way in the dark to that elusive light switch. Turning on the light is your ultimate goal; not breaking a leg in your attempt is your second. Turn off the power to the switch you are replacing. Disconnect the circuit by turning off the breaker that powers the area you are working in. Remove the screws that hold the switch cover plate to the wall. There are two screws to remove, one at the top and one at the bottom. Expose the switch and the wiring. Disconnect the switch from the power-supply wires. Remove the two screws from the top and the bottom of the switch to release it from the electrical box.
