How Do You Hook Up A 4 Prong Dryer?
Hooking up a four-prong electric dryer requires you to have a four-prong receptacle. If you have a three-prong receptacle you will have to either change the plug or the receptacle. You will also need a 4-inch pipe or hose venting to the outside to attach the dryer outlet vent. Position the dryer in its location, but allow for room to get behind the dryer. Attach the dryer hose to the back of the dryer with the hose clamp. Some new dryer hoses come with a large zip tie, which works fine, but must be cut and replaced when you disconnect the dryer. If using an existing hose, carefully inspect the hose for cracks or leaks, and make sure the hose is not clogged with lint. If installing a new hose you will also have to secure the hose in the same way to the outside vent line. Plug the dryer into the receptacle. Check for power and proper operation.
