They’re very entertaining and have a lot of personality, and they’re easy to handle when you hold them regularly. Approach the lizard with slow, calm movements. Make sure the bearded dragon sees you so that you don’t frighten it. Reach your hand out slowly and pet the top of its head with a soft, smooth motion. Observe the bearded dragon to see if it blinks or closes its eyes. If so, that means it has let its guard down and you can hold it. If not, leave it be and try again later. Slip your hand gently under its body. Support the front arms with your thumb and forefinger while resting its body in your palm. Support all of its legs to prevent back strain. Lay the bearded dragon on your arm, chest or lap. Pet it softly and it should lie there comfortably for a while. If it shows fear or distress, just put it back in its cage and try again later. Hold the bearded dragon for as long as you
