How Do You Hit An Underhand Drop Shot In Badminton?
Catch the shuttle late and low, barely hitting it so that it just clears the net – it should land too short for your opponent to get to. This is particularly useful when your opponent is expecting a deep clear. Lunge forward with your racquet foot to reach the shuttle. Reach it as soon as possible, before it falls too low. Net height is ideal. Hold you racket arm out with your racket extended and level with the net. Slide the racket sideways as you make contact to give the shuttle some slice, causing it tumble over the net. This shot is very hard to return. Contact the shuttle with very little wrist action and no follow-through. Keep your racket face open, allowing the shuttle to simply bounce off your strings and barely clear the net. Aim for the sideline furthest from your opponent’s position. Recover quickly to your ready position.
