How Do You Hike Upper Yosemite Falls, Yosemite National Park, California?
There are several hikes accessible by trailheads in the Yosemite Valley, but none are possibly more demanding and strenuous then the hike to Yosemite’s Upper Falls. At over fourteen miles round trip, the hike challenges one with unrelenting switchbacks and narrow passages above sheer cliffs. However, once accomplished the view is absolutely spectacular. Check with park rangers to determine trail closures, conditions or inclement weather before the hike. Plan the visit sometime in May, September or October. Yosemite Valley can be a parking lot in the summer which, of course, increases exponentially the traffic on the trail. May is when the falls are at full force. By autumn they may only trickle. Note however, that May is also the time when public schools schedule field trips to the park. Park the vehicle in either the Lower Falls or the Yosemite Lodge Parking Area. Look at a map of Yosemite and note that one must circle around from the Southside Drive to the Northside Drive at Yosemite
