How Do You Hike To Telescope Peak At Death Valley National Park, California?
Located over 200 miles northeast of Los Angeles, California, Telescope Peak is on the western ridge of Death Valley National Park. Death Valley is more synonymous with extreme heat rather than snowcapped mountain ranges, but nevertheless, along the Panamint Range there are several peaks over 9000 feet and Telescope measures up at just over 11000. The hike from the trailhead is seven miles one way. Plan the hike in the summer. Winter and spring can have unpredictable weather and late snow falls. Though the weather may be accommodating during autumn, the evergreens offer no fall colors and the plants are becoming dormant. Make camping reservations early.
