How Do You Hike Bear Mountain, Storm King State Park, New York?
Storm King Mountain lies in the heart of the beautiful Hudson Valley in New York State. It is located in Cornwall-on-Hudson, just north of the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York. Once you’ve reached the top the views are nothing short of breathtaking. Storm King State Park is about 50 miles north of New York City. It can be reached by taking Route 9W north until you reach a large parking area off 9W that is clearly marked. From the parking area follow the clearly marked trail that will lead you to the top of the mountain. Another way to access the park (and a lot easier to hike) would be to take Route 218 North from West Point and come into the town of Cornwall-on-Hudson. Take a left onto Mountain Road and go approx. 1 mile to a parking area that has 2 stone pillars. From here you can hike about a ½ mile and then look for the marked trail that will lead you up the side of the mountain to the top!
