The 7.0 earthquake in Port-au-Prince, Haiti left thousands dead while survivors faced injuries, food scarcity and dehydration. An estimated 300,000 Haitians were displaced from their homes, according to the United Nations. Relief efforts were also obstructed by limited equipment, lack of electricity, blocked roads, airport congestion and riots. Without a doubt, Haiti earthquake victims are in dire need of assistance. Whether you’re able to spare a few cents or a couple of dollars, you can make a difference by contacting one of the following charities. Using your cell phone, simply text “HAITI” to 90999 to donate $10 to the Red Cross. Your donation will show up on your next cell phone bill.
