How Do You Help Children Easily Memorize Scripture?

0

Here are some easy activities to keep kids motivated while learning scripture. They will also learn more easily. Use motion. Children love to toss a beanbag or ball while they are reciting a verse. They can each say a word at a time around the circle. If you have tiles on your floor, a child can jump one tile each time he says a word. Some children also like to jump rope or jump on a trampoline saying a word at a time. Use visual cues. For younger children the teacher can draw pictures that help them think of each word or phrase. Older children can draw their own ideas. In groups, looking at others pictures also helps a child remember. (Here is James 2:2 (NIV) “Suppose a man comes into your meeting wearing a gold ring and fine clothes and a poor man in shabby clothes also comes in.” Write on a board. Erase a word at a time and have the students say the verse again. My second grader loves to write it and then choose himself which words to erase.
