How Do You Help A Mentally Ill Person Whose Family Denies It?
This is a serious problem and this is what is going on with your neighbor. She sounds as if she is chronically mentally ill and probably has schizophrenia. This disease causes her bizarre and irrational behavior. The way this illness is controlled, is that the patient is hospitalized and put on medication that controls her psychosis and returns her to reality. Usually heavy doses of the medication are given at first to build up in her system, then it is tapered off to a normal dose and she is sent home to live on that dosage of medication regularly. However, something has happened here with her family. Either they are unwilling or unable to get her to the hospital for treatment. If they are unwilling, then the police should be called whenever this poor woman becomes a nuisance and eventually, the police will take her to a hospital to be evaluated.
