How Do You Have A Successfully Diverse Workforce?
Having a successfully diverse workforce is a mandate given the United States’ changing demographics. Diversity in the workplace is phenomenon that has surfaced in recent years as an outgrowth of globalization, emerging markets, and demographic changes. It is a phenomenon that can’t be ignored; as it impacts marketing segments, employment relations, leadership bonuses, competitive advantages, market share, client appeal, and a plethora of other rubrics. The phenomenon I’m talking about is diversity a new business imperative. Historically, companies have patted themselves on the back when they’ve reached their quarterly metric for hiring a certain number of minorities. With that, they’ve proudly exclaimed that they are a diversity-driven organization. I argue to truly be a diversity-driven organization, leadership must first develop a diverse workforce; to accomplish this feat management must acknowledge diversity as a business imperative and strive for inclusivity and representation at
