A ring ceremony, also known as a candlelighting, is a fun way for a bride-to-be to surprise her friends with the news of her engagement. They are very popular are some Christian colleges, and are often done through a sorority or college dorm. If a ring ceremony / candlelighting has never been done at your college dorm or sorority before, you will need to introduce the idea at the beginning of the year. At a dorm meeting, or sorority meeting, tell all of the girls that when they get engaged, if they would like a ring ceremony or candlelighting, to let them know. Encourage them to keep the engagement a secret until the ring ceremony. (You will probably have to explain what a ring ceremony / candlelighting is. Go to a craft store and purchase a long candle.
