If you have the hanging type, depending where you going to hang it, you will have to locate couple of the 2×4’s in the rafters and secure the mounting there. If you don’t have the brackets, you can almost figure out what you need, it has to be strong, metal preferably so it don’t come tumbling of the ceiling. Bottom line, it has to be connected to the solid 2×4’s or a beam if you have one where you are going to hang it.
