This article will show you how to hang curtains over existing blinds. It is moderate difficulty in that you will need to have some basic tools and depending on how high the window, a step ladder or chair. This is the most important step. The best and most visually appealing option is to find curtain rod brackets that are telescoping. What this means is that you can slide them to make them longer or shorter. This way you can extend them to fit beyond the blinds. See image for example. Now you will want to measure out where you want to put them. It should be just slightly higher than the blinds rod so that you can cover it up, and a couple inches on each side, again to cover up the blinds.
