How Do You Hang Aluminum Fascia Boards?
You can hang aluminum fascia boards along the perimeter of your roof to help protect it from water damage. While the material is fairly easy to work with and install, there are a few things to watch out for to ensure that the seal will keep water out of your rafters. Draw up a rough draft for your fascia approach. Depending on the length and pitch of your roof, you may be able to cover an entire side with one piece of aluminum. Be sure to use the proper tools, like a brake, to bend the aluminum into shape without damaging it. Use a metal hole punch to prepare the aluminum before you are ready to hang it. Create holes on the top and bottom of each piece every 6 to 8 inches. Remember that the screws will be inserted into the top and overhang of the boards and not in the front face. Check to be sure that your soffit has been installed before you hang the aluminum.
