Many window boxes require that you drill holes into the side of your house to hang them. However, if you have vinyl siding, such alteration of the siding is not recommended. You can still hang window boxes, though, with the right tools. Purchase vinyl siding hooks. These are available from home improvement stores and online. Most hooks hold 12 lbs. each, so for a 30 lb. window box, you will need three hooks. Insert the hooks up underneath a panel of the siding and pull forward, hooking them over the top of the panel below. Hang the window box on the hooks. To move or take down the hooks, lift the hook up and away from the siding.
