When purchasing a punching bag, it is important to be sure the swivel bracket is designed to hold the weight of the bag you have. Bags under125 pounds can utilize nearly any swivel mount, but a bag heavier than that need a heavy-duty swivel mount. Spend the extra money if necessary to ensure your bag does not go flying. Use the stud finder to determine where the center of one of your ceiling beams is located, in the vicinity of where you wish to hang the bag. Use the pencil to mark the center of the beam for your pilot hole. Use the drill to drill a pilot hole that is slightly smaller than the diameter of the eye bolt shaft. Ask someone at the hardware store for a recommendation if you need help determining the pilot hole drill-bit size. Screw the eye bolt into the beam, using a screwdriver handle or pliers to aid with the torque necessary to screw it in all the way up the shaft.
