Folding doors can also be used as room dividers. Hanging folding doors can be done in a couple of hours by a do-it-yourselfer. Measure the distance between the two jambs to determine how much track and what size doors you’ll need. Paint or stain the doors if you bought them unfinished. Install hinges on the doors. Ready-to-install door sets come with hinges already attached. Hinges should be placed 7 inches from the top, 11 inches from the bottom and in the center between these two measurements. Follow the instructions that came with your hardware for installing the pivot plates and locking arms that came with the hardware. Pivot plates fit into the track at the top and the floor bracket at the bottom.
