When you handle an employee’s leave of absence there are a few factors to consider. Following are some tips on how to handle an emloyee’s leave from work. An employee request for a leave of absence must be in writing. Once you receive a written notice you will need to determine which leave the employee is eligible for. Check the websites listed below to get the current information on types of leaves available. All employee medical leaves of absences require a doctor’s verification. The employee will need to provide this note to you as soon as possible. This note needs to be placed in the employee’s medical file. This does not apply if the employee is taking time out to care for a dependant or other family member. You will need to determine how long the employee will be out.
