How Do You Handle A Violent Teenager At School?
School district police departments, metal detectors in school lobbies, and harsher punishments for fighting are all indicative of the rise of violence in school. Violent teenagers are a danger not only to their fellow students, but also to themselves and to their teachers and administrators. Unfortunately, this is a reality that all educators face. Maintain a zero-tolerance policy for violence in your classroom, and preferably in the entire school. If you feel that violent teenagers are a significant problem in your district, talk to your principal, or even the superintendent, about cracking down on violence. Provide teenage students with an outlet for their anger and frustrations, such as a peer mentoring program or a visit to the school counselor.
