How do you handle a large (10 lb/4.5 kg or less) frozen sausage-like tube of ground beef?
* Cut the frozen block into family-sized meal portions using a clean serrated knife – this is tricky but it can be done. Wrap the pieces and freeze. * OR cook the entire block (from frozen) all at one time – ideally, cutting it into manageable chunks first. Cook in a heavy covered canning kettle over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally. Divide the cooked ground beef into portions and freeze.
