How Do You Grow Wintergreen (Gaultheria Procumbens)?

“Hi, this is Yolanda Vanveen and in this segment we’re going to talk about how to grow wintergreen or gaultheria procumbens. It’s a beautiful plant that’s a great addition to your garden that’s native to the eastern United States. Now wintergreen or gaultheria is native to the eastern US so it grows all over and it has really nice upright branches about six inches tall and really nice glossy leaves. And it makes almost a little ground cover little shrub and in the summer you have beautiful white flowers and then in the fall through the winter you get gorgeous scarlet red berries all over them. And then the leaves and the fruit, they taste like wintergreen. And wintergreen actually has a lot of medicinal values. You can steep those greenery and the seeds or the berries in water and make an ointment out of it or mix it with any kind of oil and it’s rubbed on to cure, or to help with arthritis because it warms up the body and it has a nice wintergreen smell. And it’s a great plant for you
