Wheatgrass is often grown for use as a vegetable in health food juices but it is an easy decorative green plant to grow in your home. You do not need much besides a tray to grow it in, some water and a spot where it can get some light. Of course, the wheat will grow best in soil, but for a clean indoor source of wheatgrass, you can grow it quickly in a soilless environment. If you have access to some wheat berries, you can start your own planting. This is fun project for kids. Pour your seeds into a jar and cover them with water. Allow them to sit at room temperature for about eight hours. Strain the water, rinse the seeds lightly and pour them back into the jar, this time without water. Rinse the seeds again every 12 hours or in the morning and evening for two days. On the morning of the third day, rinse the seeds gently. You should see tiny white sprouts.
