Most gardeners spend money on small containers to grow their vegetable seeds. And of course this is the way seedlings are normally started. Some gardeners in a rush might find it necessary to improvise and grow their seeds in what ever is around the house. One good economical choice is those Styrofoam egg cartons. Obtain a Styrofoam egg carton. make sure it is clean. Check for defects. If it passes inspection you are good to go. Take a small pencil, pen, or nail and punch a small hole in the bottom of each egg slot. The hole should be just large enough to allow excess water to drain out without disturbing the seeds or allowing the soil to fall out. Take potting soil and fill each one of the egg slots almost to the top. Now take the seeds and drop on top of the soil. Press the seeds down firmly into the soil so that they will not move about. Sprinkle potting soil over the seeds. Water lightly until they are moist. Place the egg carton on a sunny windowsill. Keep the growing mixture mois
