How Do You Grow Upside Down Container Tomato Plants?

0

Growing tomatoes in a hanging container is a new and innovative way to grow vegetables. This method keeps tomatoes well out of reach of common pests and allows for better air circulation and absorption of nutrients within the root system. Almost all varieties of tomatoes can be grown in this way but heavier tomato plants may cause the hanging container to collapse. Cut or drill a 2 to 3 inch hole in the bottom of your 5-gallon container. Hang the bucket at a height where you can easily reach inside. Turn the tomato plant upside down and lower it into the bucket. Gently guide the tip of the plant through the hole in the bottom of the bucket until only the roots are still in the bucket. Wrap the roots in enough newspaper to prevent the entire plant from falling through the hole. Fill the bucket with soil until there is only 1 inch left at the top of the bucket. Hang the bucket and plant in a sunny spot outside at least 5 feet off of the ground. Water the plant from the top of the bucket
