How Do You Grow Tomato Plants From Seed?
There are lots of advantages from growing tomato plants from seed. The most obvious is the fact that you can grow exactly the varieties you want. Otherwise you are limited to the varieties that the greenhouse offers. Another reason is that non greenhouse tomato plants take off quicker and produce tomato’s faster. Fill the pots or cell packs with seed starting soil. Regular potting mix may be too hot for tomato seedlings. Water the pots thoroughly and let them drain. Don’t leach the soil just make it good and wet but drained off. You can use a flat or small drinking cups or whatever you want for pots. If you use cups make sure to cut slots in the bottom for drainage. Take a pencil or something about that size and poke holes in the middle of the pots about an eighth inch deep, don’t go deeper than 1/4 inch. Place 1-2 fresh tomato seeds in each pot and lightly cover the seeds. Don’t pack the soil. Cover the seeds by putting the pots in a flat or similar object that you can cover. You can
