How Do You Grow Pumpkins In A Kiddie Pool?

Did you know you can grow pumpkins in a kiddie pool? Here in San Diego the ground is very sandy and the soil in almost none existent as we have lots of clay mixed in with the sand. Plus I live in a condo with almost no garden space. But my son wanted to grow a pumpkin for Halloween so we improvised. Using a plastic 4 foot diameter pool from Kmart we were able to grow our own Halloween Pumpkin this year! PICK A LOCATION: Consider carefully where you want to put the pool. You will need a sunny spot that is easy to water, but not used for any other purpose. Do not put the pool on the grass, unless you want to kill whatever is under the pool. Once you fill the pool with dirt and water, you will not be able to move it. PREPARE THE KIDDIE POOL: Once you have decided on a location for the pool, (we put ours on the patio as that was the only place we had available to us), we poked about 10 dime-size holes in the pool bottom for drainage. If the soil stays too wet, your pumpkins will get moldy
