How Do You Grow Pee Gee Hydrangea?
Pee Gee Hydrangea may be the most common hydrangea in the home garden, but it is also the showiest. This popular summer-blooming shrub produces large, white conical blooms, fades to an apple green before turning a lovely pink and, finally, a light tan. Here’s how to give your hydrangea a good start. Dig the planting hole 4 times the width of the plant’s root ball and at a depth where the root ball will be level with the ground. Fill hole with water and allow it to be absorbed by the soil. This step ensures that water will reach the roots immediately and help prevent shock. Remove the hydrangea from its container by gently tapping the side of the container on the ground and carefully removing plant. If roots are compacted, remove the loose soil and spread the roots. Replace the original soil and water deeply to remove air pockets. Spread a layer of mulch or other organic material around the base of the hydrangea to a depth of 2-to 3-inches.
