You can easily grow orange trees with the paper towel method. In about 10 to 14 days, the seed grown with this method will develop a root, stem and a couple of tiny first leaves, or cotyledons. The only challenging part might be finding oranges that have seeds in them. Try buying a bag of very small oranges, which often have two or three seeds in each piece of the fruit. Valencia oranges sometimes yield a few seeds, also. Gently remove the seeds from the oranges with your fingers, taking care not to damage the seed coverings. Wash the seeds under cool running water to remove natural residues. Soak the orange seeds in a glass of water overnight. Fold a paper towel in half three times. Set it on a flat working surface. Spritz the paper towel with water from the plastic spray bottle to moisten it slightly. Open the top fold and spread several orange seeds under it.
