How Do You Grow Celeste Fig Trees?
Fig trees all belong to the larger family of trees called “ficus”. Some fig trees are a common fixture in private gardens because of the sweet fruit that they grow. The figs that produce fruit are in the “common” variety. Celeste fig trees happen to be in that variety, so by planting one you can enjoy the sweet fruit of the fig tree during the harvest season. The fruit is usable as pie filling, ice cream flavoring or as a simple afternoon snack right off the tree. Follow some simple guidelines in order to help your fig tree grow. Choose a sunny location in your yard for the fig tree. Fig trees are tropical plants and need plenty of heat and sunlight. The location you choose should have at least eight hours of direct sunlight a day. Make sure the spot you choose has well drained soil. If the soil is thick and not well drained, you may need to plow up the entire area and add new soil. Your fig tree will die in soil that is too moist. Clear the area of any loose debris with a rake.
