How Do You Grow Catnip To Repel Mosquitoes?
Did you know that in some tests, catnip has been more effective at repelling mosquitoes than Deet? Wouldn’t it be great to get an all-natural mosquito repellent that you can grow at home? Catnip is an easy plant to grow once established, but getting it to established can be a challenge. Here’s how you can grow a catnip plant from seed so that you can have lots of catnip plants in your backyard to repel mosquitoes. Fill the pots with your seed starting mix. Thoroughly moisten the dirt. Sprinkle 2-3 catnip seeds in each pot and cover (lightly) with more of the seed starter. Water lightly–a spray bottle is great for this. Place the pots into a clear plastic bag, or under glass jars to keep them warm and moist. Put them in a sunny, warm spot. Wait. And wait. And wait some more. Check on your seeds once a day–open up the plastic bag to give them some air circulation (about fifteen minutes worth), and water as needed.
