How Do You Grow California Avocado Trees From The Seed?
Avocado trees originated in southern Mexico, and now they grow worldwide in areas including Israel, Mexico, Spain, South Africa and California. California avocado trees produce fruit year-round, and a single tree can produce up to several hundred avocados each. Avocados are normally grown from seeds removed from ripened avocados. Growing an avocado tree from the seed is fairly simple, but the seed does require proper care. Wash the avocado seed in water and remove any pulp. Hold the avocado seed with the broad end down and insert three toothpicks halfway up the pit of the seed. Fill a drinking glass with water and suspend the broad end of the seed in the water by the toothpicks. About 1 inch of the seed should be suspended in the water. Put the glass in a warm place out of direct sunlight. Dump out the water and replace it with fresh water about every week.
