There are several hardy types of banana trees that can be grown for their ornamental value. In the spring, order the banana tree from a reliable mail-order nursery, or buy a small plant from the nursery. When you choose your site, choose a spot that is sunny most of the day: bananas tolerate some shade but they prefer a location that gets several hours of sun.
