How Do You Grow A Rose Bush From A Single Stem Or Cutting?
Rose bushes can be started from stems. I have started many rose bushes from cuttings. I learnt the art from my grandfather who had the most gorgeous roses.
The easiest way is to make sure that you cut the stem where several leaves stick out from the side of the bush. You pull up some grass, root and all. You wrap the grass roots around the rose cutting, and then plant the roots and stem in the ground. Some plant it in a pot, but I plant it in my yard.
Another method is to cut the stem once again where several leaves stick out from the side. Then you plant the stem in the ground and cover it with a glass jar. This works well in cooler climates, but in the South the planting gets too hot and burns up.
• Make a hole with the knitting needle. Place the tip of the large knitting needle in your selected spot and hammer it all the way into the ground. Pull the knitting needle out of the ground. Wear gardening gloves to protect your hands from thorns and to protect your cutting from germs. Make several small cuts along the stem of your cutting. Keep the gloves on while you cover all the fresh cuts with the growth hormone powder. • Place the cutting into the hole. Immediately place the cutting into the hole you prepared with the knitting nee
