Red ginger grows best where the temperature is almost always above 60°F and the climate is humid or damp. Grow the plants inside, in pots, if your climate will not support growing red ginger outside. Chose a spot in the garden with fertile, well-drained soils and full, indirect sunlight or light shade. Enrich poor soils by hoeing in compost with a pH range of 6.0 to 6.8.
