How Do You Glaze Kitchen Cabinets Like Professional Painters?
Makeover tired kitchen cabinets by adding paint and glaze–a finish often provided by professional painters which costs thousands of dollars. Save money by performing the project yourself. Glazed cabinets have a slightly aged and antique look with glaze falling into the grooves of the cabinet’s doors and molding. The process may take several days to over a week to complete due to the layers of paint and work time involved in the project. Prepare the cabinets to be painted. Remove all hardware from the doors and drawers including pulls, knobs and hinges. Keep all hardware in a plastic storage container for safe keeping. Clean the cabinets with a damp sponge and soapy water to remove grease, food stains and other grime. Sand the cabinetry to add grip to the wood’s surface. Use a medium grit sandpaper and rub the surface–if the cabinets are wood rub in the direction of the grain. Wipe down the wood’s surface to remove dust and debris caused by sanding by using a tack cloth or damp rag. P
