Getting a professional manicure at a salon is fun and indulgent, but regular visits can put a strain on your wallet and there’s no reason you can’t give yourself a fabulous manicure while you’re watching your favorite TV show! First, choose your nail polish color. If it’s for a special event, choose a color that will complement your outfit as well as your skin tone. If it’s for everyday, select one that will look good with your skin tone and is appropriate for the time of year (brighter, fun colors in the summer – darker, more muted shades in the winter). Remove all old polish from your fingers. I find that using a tissue or cotton ball soaked with nail polish remover works well to get most of the polish off. Follow that up by using cotton swabs dipped in polish remove to get in between the nail and cuticle bed. The “jar” polish removers are also pretty good at removing most of the polish, but I recommend always using cotton swabs to get into the cracks and crevices. Use the nail file
