How Do You Give Gifts With Christmas Spirit?
Children and Adults alike could use a reminder about the real meaning of Christmas. This year, why not start a family tradition of giving meaningful Christmas gifts? After all, isn’t charity what Christmas gifts are all about? Spend time at a soup kitchen. If you live in a major city, check with the local homeless shelters to see when they need volunteers. However, call early. Many people like to give the gift of charity during the Christmas season and they may run out of spaces. Have the children make a list of the things that they want for Christmas. Then have them pick one thing on that list to give to charity. Use this opportunity to talk to them about what they’ve seen at the homeless shelter and how much their gifts will be appreciated. Birthdays and similar gift giving occassions are also great opportunities to talk about giving. Make your own gifts. Have everyone exchange one homemade (or set a budget on store purchased gifts) gift and then give the money that the family saved
