How Do You Give A Manager Performance Feed?
When your performance review comes up, you may be asked to give your input to be added to your report. Usually an employee will offer some generic comments about his own performance in the hopes of getting out of the review with some sort of raise. However, a performance review is an opportunity to open up a two-way conversation between yourself and your manager, not only about the things you do, but also about your perception of your manager’s activities. Keep detailed notes during the year of the programs initiated by your manager, how you were used in those programs and how you may feel you could have better been utilized. This is easier to do with a notebook you keep handy at your desk. You may forget something before you can get home to make notes on your home computer, and a networked computer in the office can be an open book to anyone who has access to it, so the idea of keeping personal performance notes on a company computer is not a good one.
