How Do You Give A Good Funeral Speech?
There is nothing easy about giving a funeral speech. First of all, you’re dealing with the pain and suffering of having lost a loved one. This can make it extremely difficult to sit down and focus on the speech writing work that needs to be done. Second, many of us are simply not accustomed to giving speeches. There aren’t too many occasions in our lives where we’re called upon to give speeches, so it’s not exactly one of our strengths. Fortunately, by keeping just a few things in mind, you’ll do fine. 1) Don’t go for greatness: Everyone at the funeral will understand that you’re not a professional orator, so a funeral speech does not have to be genius. In fact, trying to make it too good can stifle your creativity and give you writer’s block. 2) Be genuine: If you’re not a writer of great speeches, make up for it with real, genuine, heartfelt emotion. Give personal anecdotes about the deceased, and try to convey as closely as possible what the person meant to you. Also, don’t try to m
