How Do You Get Traffic Reports On A Portable GPS?
Traffic information can be displayed on portable Global Positioning System (GPS) devices using an optional traffic receiver that can be purchased as an accessory. The device will then indicate traffic conditions such as average traffic speed and incidents, including accidents and road work. Some even let you receive audible warnings of upcoming speed cameras. Connect the portable GPS device and traffic receiver following the instructions that came with the optional traffic receiver. The traffic receiver continuously monitors an FM data channel for traffic data. Turn on the traffic overlay on the GPS device. From the Main Menu go to “Settings” and choose “Traffic Settings.” Select the “On” option. Take a look at the map. If traffic conditions are broadcast for your location, they will appear as an overlay on the screen. Normal highway traffic will be indicated with green lines overlaid on the highway. Slow traffic will be orange and stopped or bumper-to-bumper traffic will be red. Touch
